UNIVERSITAS NEGERI YOGYAKARTA MENUJU PERGURUAN TINGGI BERTARAF INTERNASIONAL (PTBI) “Yogyakarta State University on the move toward World Class University”

Yogyakarta State University(YSU) as university that have relationship with the other university whether in Indonesia or in the world and the role of YSU as the ex of LPTK (Lembaga Pencetak Tenaga Kependidikan) encourage YSU to be university that have important role from the international point of view.
In the effort of YSU toward WCU, YSU can’t loss its identity. YSU must use competence and step by Indonesian culture. The major task for YSU is still be create education employee and develop education.
The university’s major function is involve in international interaction as its responsibility  prepare its graduate get ready faced real world. For the student in university, toward WCU help them to understand and implement global perspective. For the lecturer, toward WCU will gave they larger chance to do international research, publish the result of their research in the international journal and have international relationship.
Yogyakarta State University towards World Class University is the effort that have been done by YSU with all of organization complement be university that have international standard in Teaching Learning Education, research and publish it, and Education Management. YSU as WCU be hoped as high educator that capable to get graduate that qualified and “unggul” in the world.   
The long period aim is UNY become an international university that have a rank below 500 between the other international universities.
UNY towards WCU has been done for two years. The programs improved by competence that have before, whether individually or organization such as: deliver the lecturer to follow short course to get ability in teaching content trough English and have International Certificate to teach in International Class. Besides that, the important one is build networking with university and research center in the whole world. The other program is improve lecturer’s ability to develop international teaching learning method and model.
Develop English Activity meant to improve English capability for the student and the lecturer. This activity is also including bilingual class, English course for the student and lecturer and English Club formed.
But, it’s important for UNY to have a communication about the real aim of WCU. And not forget, the support and formal based from the university about UNY development.
