USAHA GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN MINAT SISWA BELAJAR MATEMATIKA

It’s not easy to teach mathematics. Student at university also find many difficulties when they learning math. Prof.Ir.RMJT.Soehakso divided type of learning become Moore type and Eilenberg style. Moore gives the student challenges to solve, on the other hand Eilenberg give clarity to student. Moore challenge the student’s intelligent and Eillenberg approach the student’s heart.
There are some obstacles when learn math such as the understanding of the theory, how to use it in our daily life, the environment that think math is difficult, and the facilities that not support the teaching learning process. And there are some difficulties that found by the teacher such as the different ability of the students, how to make the student learn seriously, also how to develop the method and the media of teaching learning math. These obstacles and the difficulties when learn math, make student not too interest to learn math.
Truthfully, math is activity to find the pattern and the relation (between one case with the other case), math is creativity that needs imagination and intuition, math is activity to solve the problem, math is tool of communication. With this reality, the teachers must try to manage the teaching learning process.
There are reality why student learn mathematics such as student will learn math if they have given motivation, student learn by their own way, the student learn independently and cooperatively, and the most important student needs different context and various situations when they learn.
So, how to make the student interest to learn math?
We need innovation learning math. Now learn math should be:
· student centered (active student/democratic),
· learn math as the awareness or daily need, not as the obligation,
· the method that used to teach is not only expository but discussion and the other methods,
· the teacher have role as developer of curriculum and be the facilitator,
· and also change the characteristic of math become the lesson that will be fun to learn.
