PEMANFAATAN VIDEO TAPE RECORDER (VTR) UNTUK PEGEMBANGAN MATEMATIKA REALISTIK DI SMP

Realistic Mathematics emphasize on construction from concrete
things as initial point for student for getting mathematics concepts. Analysis
about teaching learning methods using VTR (Video Tape Recorder) is one way or
effort that can be done by the teacher. With using VTR, teacher hoped can learn
how make a plan to teach mathematics in Junior High School, how to develop the
learning source, how to develop assessment activity, and how to implement
teaching learning process that suit with Realistic Mathematic Education(RME) in
Junior High School.
RME has specification in approaching. In RME, student develop
own model and that model is used become the base to develop their formal
mathematics. There are two models that can be happen in that process: model of
situation and model for formal mathematics.
An observation and analysis using VTR, where teacher record
teaching learning mathematics with realistic approach, the other teacher can
test and find the other alternative for develop the idea about concrete object
that can use in teaching mathematics context and built relation mathematics
with social interaction.
Mathematics teaching model that have been recorded in VTR has
any profit and weakness. Any profits that can get by the teacher such as: the
teachers having a chance to discuss with other teacher to get new knowledge
with compare with own experiences, the teacher has chance to reflect mathematic
concepts, the teacher has many reflection about planning teaching learning
process, source of learning and also an assessment that have been get from the
other teacher, etc. But VTR also has weakness such as: limited point of view,
can’t record all aspect, result (picture) quality, and moment that can’ always
appropriate.
